The 2024 Baby Registry Checklist: Essentials for Baby (and Gifts for Moms, Too!)
When I found out I was expecting my second child, I thought I’d have everything figured out—I mean, I’d done this before, right? But as the weeks went by, I realized that even as a “seasoned” mom, creating a registry (and deciding whether to have a shower) can still feel overwhelming. This is why I decided to create my personal 2024 baby registry checklist and share my tips with all of you. The truth is, no two pregnancies are alike, and deciding what’s right for you and your family is incredibly personal. After a lot of thought, and some nudging from my mom, friends, and sisters-in-law, I decided to create…

Advanced Maternal Age: Something to Celebrate
Hello all! Coming at you live, at about 16 weeks pregnant with my second baby by the time this publishes, and I am ready to talk about all of the positive things around “advanced maternal age.” For those of you unfamiliar with the term, “advanced maternal age” is the language used by researchers and medical professionals to define pregnancy at or after the age of 35. This term has been around since the 1950s, with some variations including “elderly pregnancy” and “geriatric pregnancy.” If those are the alternatives, I’ll stick with advanced maternal age (or AMA). The threshold is somewhat arbitrary in that, it signifies a gradual decline in fertility…

Gestational Diabetes: Our First Scare & The Facts
Hi friends, so this is a bit of an impromptu blog post, and not something I initially planned on chronicling. However, I just had my first “scare” and wanted to share it with my blog community. This also feeds well into a blog I will plan on writing concerning health before pregnancy and what you can do to set yourself up for a healthy pregnancy. So, here we go. Last week, I went in for my gestational diabetes screening… My Gestational Diabetes Testing Experience The first screening, or the Glucose Challenge Test, is a non-fasted blood test. It tests to see if you’re “at risk” of having gestational diabetes. So prior…

Second Trimester Recap, Must-Haves and Baby Name!
Well, folks, we are officially in the HOME STRETCH. Peace out, second trimester. Hello, third trimester. Instead of doing an update this week, this blog will be more of a reflection on the second trimester. But before we get into that, one big news moment: Matt and I finally agreed on Pistachio’s real name! This is big. Want to know what it is? Sorry…can’t tell you that. But I will be including one baby name hint at the end of each pregnancy blog post (including this post) moving forward. I won’t confirm or deny, of course, until his birth announcement. If you guess the full name (first and middle), you’ll…

Baby Registry Advice and Bumpdate: 26 Weeks Pregnant
Hello friends and happy fall! Can you believe it’s fall already? I’ve always deemed myself a “summer” girl. I enjoy the hot weather, outdoor dining, and social nature of summer. But man, at 26 weeks pregnant, this lady has never been MORE ready for sweater weather and legging season. For all you mamas out there that endure the 3rd trimester in the heat of the summer, I bow down to you. Speaking of which SIX MONTHS. That means only three months (god-willing) left until we get to meet the Pistachio. I mentioned this in a recent post, but for the past month or so, I feel like the “preggo-planning” has…

Prenatal Exercise & my 23 Week Pregnancy Update
We are just cruising along now friends! I’m in the middle of my 23rd week of pregnancy and overall, I’m feeling pretty good. I’m starting to adjust to my new exercise/work/commute schedule, my new house, and my science experiment of a body. We have an ultrasound on Friday to make sure that Pistachio’s offset umbilical cord isn’t causing any complications, but when I asked the OB-GYN about this, she reassured me that it’s nothing to worry about. So, fingers crossed, all is well with little ‘Stash. If my belly size is any indication, his growth rate is just fine. Speaking of the above changes, I recently had quite a few…

18 Week Pregnancy Update: My Pregnancy Journey
Hi friends! I can’t believe I’m already sharing my 18 week pregnancy update. Pistachio is the size of a sweet potato, croissant, nintendo controller, or Sugar Glider (see below). Now that I’m getting deeper into my second trimester, I can confidently say that most of my former and current preggo friends were right: It does. get. better. As I strut into this nineteenth week of pregnancy, I can safely say that my nausea has subsided and with that, friends, the hunger is real. Which is kind of strange because, simultaneously, I feel super full. Is that normal? The plus side, I can actually consume vegetables and healthier foods again,…

My Pregnancy Journey: Week 16 Pregnancy Update & Body Image Anxiety
Today marks 16 weeks pregnant and the beginning of my 17th week. CRAZY! I decided to couple the first few weeks of my second trimester into one pregnancy update, because I think weekly updates may be a bit…much. Maybe it’s because of the arbitrary first four weeks when I didn’t even know I was pregnant, but it feels like time is flying by so fast. Wrapped in with trying to sell our house, putting the finishing touches on my coaching business (stay tuned for some exciting announcements), studying, and my full-time job, it has been non-stop action in these parts. Currently, Pistachio is the size of an Avocado, or a…
