    Human Connection this Holiday Season

It’s been a hot second. Can you believe it’s 12/1! So, I know that I mentioned November was one of my FAVORITE months in my Newvember blog…but, in all reality, December may be my numero uno. I mean, who can deny the glory of 24/7 Christmas music on every adult contemporary station? Or 25 Days of Christmas? I get the warm fuzzies thinking about it.  Not to mention, I start the month off with my anniversary and I end it with my birthday! Throw in some Christmas shenanigans with the family, dressing Charlie the dog up as Santa Clause, and the official return of oversized sweaters, leggings and boots…and well,…

Adventures in Baking with Coconut Flour (2 Stellar Recipes)

Over a year ago, I bought coconut flour for one paleo recipe I was testing out. ICYDK replacement flours are a little pricier than regular flours.  But, I really wanted to try this recipe and it called for coconut flour. So on a whim, I bought it. Recipe turned out great…problem is, after I made that ONE dessert item, I never used the coconut flour again. It sat on the shelf in my cabinet, taking up much needed real estate. This particularly annoys my husband, as his two biggest pet peeves are clutter and spending money on things we never use. Cue the eye roll. So, as I’ve started to…

Soup Sunday: Butternut Bisque (Dairy-Free, Vegan)

Happy Sunday fam! I hope you had an amazing week and are ready to conquer the week ahead. Not sure about you, but as the weather starts to get chillier, my body craves a nice warm bowl of soup. In fact, Matt and I have a fall/winter ritual that we’ve so creatively named “Soup Sunday.” Given the time of year and my recent obsession with butternut squash, I decided to try making a butternut bisque. I’m getting all the feels as write this because butternut bisque reminds of a restaurant I used to go to in my hometown. I’d sip on a bowl of that delicious bisque while sharing so…

    NEWVEMBER: A MONTH FOR CHANGE

It’s Nov. 1 and you know what that means…Newvember! There’s something about November that’s just so darn exciting. Maybe it’s the holiday decor. Maybe it’s the change of the seasons.  Maybe it’s the family get-togethers.  Maybe it’s the promise of 2 back-to-back months of vacation days. Whatever it may be, there’s an air of both hope and impulsive magic that seems to flourish. Around this time last year, I was a month away from my wedding and between celebrating the wedding of one of my all-time besties and finishing up my own last-minute wedding deets,  I didn’t fully embrace the opportunity to reflect and make some moves. Quite frankly,…

Meal Prep Monday: The Healthy Breakfast To-Go Edition

Happy Monday friends! Hope your weekend was every bit as fabulous as you are. Not sure about you, but breakfast is one of my most favorite (yes, that’s right…”most favorite”) meals of the day. I could literally eat all the components of a typical “breakfast meal” throughout the day. Specifically, coffee. Does that count? Anyway, the problem is, a healthy breakfast can be really difficult to fit in, specifically if you find yourself scrambling (no pun intended) to pull something together before heading off to work or school. Raise your hand if any of the following have become part of your breakfast routine as of late:   Mondays are for…

    Do you even Pumpkin?

Happy, happy Thursday. One more day til the weekend and, not sure about your weather situation, but it’s finally starting to feel like fall over here in Maryland. And what better way to celebrate fall than with pumpkins! Ironically, and this goes out to all my basics out there, it’s National Pumpkin Day! Even if you’re not into the whole PSL or pumpkin picking craze, you can’t deny that Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin is a classic. Don’t fight me on that one.   So, naturally, I feel like it’s my duty to call some attention to some of  the nutritional benefits of this little fall favorite. And if…

Fitting In Fitness: We All Start Somewhere

Hello peeps! Welcome to my first blog on my brand new website. I took a little bit of a breather from posting content while I made this switch. Bare with me while I work out the kinks. Progress, not perfection. You get the gist. Anyway, I realized that I have YET to really make a fitness post, which is kind of baffling to me. You see, fitness and/or activity is a huge part of my self-care routine, my anxiety-mediating efforts, and well…my life, in general. And for good reason. Putting aside the obvious weight management benefits, regular physical activity helps to prevent and/or manage scary diseases, like type 2 diabetes,…

    Lessons I’ve Learned from Grammy

This blog is going to be a little different. But, hang in there with me. One thing that I’ve found to be super helpful as I set goals, both personally and professionally, is to find a mentor or coach to help me, guide me, and provide me with the accountability and motivation to achieve my goals. So today, I’m going to tell you about an OG mentor of mine…my Grammy. Today is Grammy’s 95th birthday and she looks amazing! Don’t worry, she’s not afraid to tell you that either. Recently, she asked the woman doing her make up at my sisters wedding if it was “difficult to work on…

My Love Hate Relationship with Rent the Runway

Let me start this one off by saying, I am the WORST when it comes to purchasing clothes. I can window shop for days, but to actually commit to purchasing or, god forbid, trying on clothes...I just can’t do it. This specifically becomes an issue when I have a special event coming up and need to find something schnazzy to wear...basically, I’d just wait until the absolute last second, and settle on something cheap. So, when I heard about Rent the Runway a few years ago, I was intrigued.
